You can replace the boots - I used a set off a VW (think they were for the rod ends?) and they are fine.

You can't replace the ball joints themselves.

It was me, who asked that a couple of weeks ago. And after a lot of searching and asking dump people dump questions (at least they starred at me, like it did) I found out, that you actually can use the Boot of a Track-rod-end from ...

... here it comes: A Peugeot 205 GTI *g*

They have been there all the Time, just 2 meters left from the wishbone, right there sitting on the PAS Rack looking sorry.

So check out your trackrodends, if the have the ring-clamp they might be fine, if they are glued to the rodend, then they don´t.

good luck

on re-fitting a balljoint on my 106 ( i know its different but this may help?) it split going back in

so we got a new balljoint and replaced the boot it worked fine.

can you not change the balljoints on the 205?

No.

The 106 balljoints press out. The 205 ones dont.

This thread couldn't have been more timely for me as I'd just damaged the boot on one of my lower suspension arms (CTi with lowly bog standard suspension so no wishbones :D ). Found an old track rod end with a decent boot and it fits perfectly :) So all you CTi owners (and others with non GTi suspension set up) this will work for you too!

Totally OT but I always presumed the CTi was identical to the GTi's just with no roof

Even the 1.9 ones? Surely they must have the same wishbones etc else no way as strong?

All Cti's come with the track control arm setup like the base models, and have similar torsion bars to base models with drum rear beams .
