Run A 2nd Pos + Neg Feeds To The Starter?

Recommended Posts

Anton green

Would it be worthwhile running 2nd positive and negative feeds to the starter straight to the batt terminals if I have replaced the solinoid wire and multiplug and am still having starting issues?

Nb/

I havent had a look at the terminals of the starter motor as they are covered by a rubber sheath, I presume there is both a pos and neg terminal, and neg isnt taken from the body of the starter directly to earth thru the gearbox?

The starter takes its earth through the gearbox, try cleaning up your earths or replacing them if knackerd.

Also take the ignition cowling off and you will prob see a brown wire in there thats burnt looking, try replacing that

Thats cool then. I ran a friggin thick trunked earth from the starter motor mount bolt directly to the batt neg a few days ago just as a failsafe.

On the starter motor, does it have a nut fastener and ring terminal for the battery positive lead would you happen to know, or does it attach in some other way?

Yes, there is a nut and a sprung washer holding a ring terminal to the starter.
