Tools For Lowering Rear Beam

im going to be lowering my rear beam to go with the sprintline kit im going to order in the morin, via the guide on the main site

 

now i have 100's off sockets braker bars etc so i pretty much have the tools cover bar a few things

 

a type 40 torx tool im going to get off my mechinic

 

19mm head bolt. The bolt needs to be at least 100mm long

 

were can i get something like that? i take it any 19mm bolts that 100mm long wood do?

 

anything else i need?

 

cant remember reading about needing anything else

You can use a bendix caliper bolt

Either one of the fronts if it's a 1.6 or one of the rear if its a 1.9

Doesn't need to be 100 mm long.

 

40 is more than enough from memory.

wire brush is useful for cleanin the rust from splines etc. Sounds like you will prob already have it tho. Good luck :)

ive sorted it all now my mechinic will lend me a torx tool thingy & he's found me a 19mm bolt now its only 90mm long so that should be ok? does it need to be threaded all the way down?

The main thing is to make sure the 19 mm head bolt is M12x1.5. That's not the most common M12 pitch. Should only be a couple of bucks from a bolt shop so I don't really know why people seem to have so much trouble with them. I used 35 mm long bolts and that was plenty of length.

 

It might be handy to have a bolt, nut, and big washer to suit the torsion bar thread, but I can't remember what size that is.

i'd rather get a bolt off my mechinic than use 1 from the car that mite get buggered up for whatever reason

 

i dont want to be able not to put it back together coz off 1 bolt on a sunday afternoon
