Filling Holes.

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I've just removed a big chunky spoiler off my boot, it came with the car whe nI bought it. It's left 2 sizable holes on either side of the boot panel. Whats the best the way to fill them so that they're hardly noticable? What sort of filler etc?

Also, has anyone got a spare boot lip spoiler? I think they came standard on the GTI's. Let us know, thanks. Can't post in the wanted section yet.

Hello, If it can't be welded up.ie you dont have the equipment or the skin is too thin?!

Then I would go for afixing some thin ally sheet behind the hole with something like sikaflex/silicone sealent/mastic etc then skim over the top with body filler. I have been using U-pol easy1 recently and Im

very impessed with it, dead easy to sand down, however getting it unnoticelable is down to elbow grease :( , and filller primer, lol

Or, just swop the bootlid to one that doesnt have holes in it :D

What sonofsam said.

Try aralditing a 5p coin or some coin of ample sizage to the back of the hole, you may have to hold it while it dries, so be careful not to stick your fingers to the boot.

then filler over the top. . . etc

It may be worth masking taping over the hole, then cutting the hole through the masking tape when your filling it, to save you having to sand back too much paint.
