All Praise The GTI

ive just bought a 1.9 with what iam told is a full magnex system and 4 branch.

when i boot it something knocks and also iam having problems selecting 5th and reverse it feels like something is there so i presume its the system(havent looked yet)

i keep hearing about Group "N" rear engine mount and a torque bush???? do these prevent this??? also would a quickshift help?

Not sure what you mean by a 'torque bush' but when the magnex's are new iirc they come with a stiffer lower engine mount, and a plate to add between one of the buffers in the top mount, as when fitting the magnex you lose the flexi-joint that the std system has between the manifold & downpipe.

Hi mate yes came across the same problem, it would clunk under hard acceleration and rub selecting some gears, Stiffen up the lower engine mount with a stiffer rubber commpound which are easy to get hold off and that should be all you need. I hate qouting what ive heard before without actually knowing but i read a short shift kit will make it worse with a magnex manifold. Not sure how true this is though. Anyone confirm?

The Magnex mount is slightly different to the std Group 'N' one from what I;ve been told and seen, They are a solid mount with holes around the outside of it, But if you can still get these I don;t know but the solid lower mount can be got thru Baker Bushes or me (Both forum sponcers)

But a worn std mount will lead to the problems your having when moving along .

'Torque bush' is what Magnex refer to their supplied bush as. I was somewhat miffed when I bought my system many years ago and found that they supplied this bush which they insist on using, but there was absolutely no details at all as to where it was supposed to go. This was before I knew anything about the car, so I only worked it out once I got underneath and had a good old poke around.

Mine rattled like a bastard until I got under it with the tin snips and cut and bent it until it didn't touch.

Better than removing it completely.
