Guest edcotic Posted May 19, 2007 can someone give me a definitive does tightening up the front hub nut on my 1.6 GTI (MI16) make any difference to the tightness of the wheel bearing? Wheel has developed wobble and hub bearing is only 6 months old. No noise what so ever from the hub, just wobble... is there a specified torque and what size is the nut? many thanks Ed
edthedrummer 0 Posted May 19, 2007 IIRC the torque setting for a hubnut is in the region of 260Nm for a standard 1.6gti. and also i think you'll find the hubnut is either a 35mm or a 36mm bolt for a standard 1.6gti As far as the wobble, i can't really say. sorry. Baz 421 Posted May 19, 2007 Tbh could more like the common ovalled Ball Joint holed hub. Might be worth checking.
edthedrummer 0 Posted May 19, 2007 Sorry, my post earlier stated that the hubnut diameter was 35 or 36 mm, on a 1.6 i think it is actually 30mm, with the 35 being on the 1.9gti. just saw a post by pugtorque which stated this. Apologies.
