Mikey G 3 Posted May 19, 2007 If you think the 8v is hard try an Mi16 stem seal I have used many implements to try to get underneath and lever them up, some sort of L shaped tool and something to lever against, just be carefull of the lifter bores. Sometimes a nice pliers can grip around them and wiggle them about to loosen and just pull them off.
lyncho23 3 Posted May 19, 2007 haha , yea i suppose im lucky that ive only got 8 to do and not 16. thanks for your reply
Veero 1 Posted May 19, 2007 Yeah I used a hefty pair of long nose pliers with loads ofinsulation tape wrapped around the most of the nose except for the very end. This is to protect the bores and valve guides but still being able to use the pliers. There is a knack to getting them off, once you done a couple the best way becomes clear easily Veero
Mikey G 3 Posted May 19, 2007 haha , yea i suppose im lucky that ive only got 8 to do and not 16. thanks for your reply Its not just the fact there is 16, but the bloody bores are smaller too
Sandy 191 Posted May 19, 2007 Try to twist it before you pull it. Still on topic?
edthedrummer 0 Posted May 19, 2007 If you can try heating it? Although if the engine is still in the car its probably best to avoid this i would imagine? would there be a risk of fire? Maybe not the best suggestion. Grip with pliers, twist and pull at the same time. They're not easy. Be careful to make sure they are the only thing your gripping with the pliers, you don't want to burr and scratch any thing else.
