Interior Creaks & Rattles Gayness

What is it with Pug plastics from this era?! Did they ever make a 205/309/405 that didn't have a least one sound that shouldn't be there?

I'm interested to hear about how (if) people have overcome these annoying sounds. And why do they always sound like a bee buzzing or a rodent that somehow found it's way into the most inaccessible part of the dashboard.

I was driving along earlier and discovered that if I held the dash in 2 places and braced my knees under the dash, I had a silent interior! And then nearly crashed!

far from complete and in no particluar order (although the sunroof was easily the most annoying):

- coin tray - wedged a piece of card in there (just happened that i got fed up with this whilst at the N'ring - used a 'ring entry ticket and never bothered removing it)

- sunvisor - fitted plastic tube over the arms so that they didn't rattle in the clasps

- s'wheel surround - removed and rearranged so that it wasn't rubbing against the wheel

- sunroof cover/handle - never got round to doing anything with this (except punching)

- a pillar trim - constantly failing on me. always took me by surprise. more punching

Funny, I know the feeling!

Punching breaks the light as I found! Remove the surround, fit a sticky backed foam like draft excluder around where the plastic fits. Then offer the plastic back up and screw it down, this should stop the racket.

I bought a couple of packs of cheap sponges from a pound shop and stuffed them behind anything that made a noise - inside the roof console, behind the rear wiper panel, above and below the steering column (surprisingly effective!), around the rear speaker holes, and a few other places I've forgotten.

Most of the rattles are drowned out by the squeeky passenger seat though.

My car doesn't squeek... do i win any thing?

Occasionally in extreme climatic condition (i suppose the plastics shrink/expand) I do get a few moans...

I find that the stereo cures the problem well.

Can I just clarify, are we still talking about 205 interiors or are you on about an inflatable partner? B):P:);)

Aye, something around 1KW drowns everything out nicely :)

But as above, self adhesive felt is great for wedging between panels, or some thin open cell foam on the back of them where they come into contact with the metalwork.
