davemar 16 Posted May 17, 2007 After fitting the new gearbox and filling it up with oil, I came back the next day to find a big puddle of oil on the floor! It looks like it leaked out of the left-hand driveshaft oil seal. So I've whipped the shaft out, but can't seem to shift the oil seal. I've tried levering it with a large screwdriver, but it won't budge. Surely there's an easier way of removing it without scraping up the metal surface? Alastairh 47 Posted May 17, 2007 your doing it right, it should just lever out with a screw driver, so put your back into it! Alastair
j_turnell 137 3 Cars Posted May 17, 2007 As Al said just use a small pry bar or screwdriver but be careful not to catch the metal as you push it out as you can score it. Just give it a few taps with your hand and it should start to move.
trogboy 17 Posted May 17, 2007 Small drill bit for a pilot hole, screw a screw into the seal then a pair of mole grips or a claw hammer to remove screw and seal as one. Job's a good'un
