Sad Removing

Recommended Posts

Gavin Waddell

Going to remove the SAD completly, i want to take it out of the the engine bay. The car is not a daily driver so i can deal with the rough idle on start up. Ive blockrd off the breather pipes. but there is the 2 coolant pipes that im assuming are what heat up the coil in the sad that turns the disc that shuts the hole to stop bleeding air into the maifold. There are 2 plugs on the SAD a red and green one, now if i take the sad out of the car i have to unplug these plugs, but i think one of the does the temp on the dash?

Basically i wanted to know if any one else had removed there sad completly with out any side effects.

Thanks Gavin

Do a search as there has been loads of topics.

There are two air hose's to the SAD one from the air intake hose after the AFM(and between the inlet manifold) and the over goes to the bottom of the inlet manifold. There is one black connector to the SAD and the SAD is held onto the water block with two 10mm bolts.

Gavin, you have posted this exact topic before;

It sounds like you are removing the whole Thermostat housing & not just the SAD if you have the red & green plugs on it. The SAD has one black two pin plug on it & a hose to either side of it, nothing else.

There are no water pipes to the SAD.

Graham.

Remove the SAD and leave the water pipes in place. The wires you talk about are the Water temp gauge and warning light, not part of the SAD at all.

What benefit would there be to removing the Sad ?!

Not much, if any, that I can think of. Replacing it with something better would be good though, it is a pretty awful piece of kit.

what do you do with the plug that would be left there? just secure it up somewhere?
