allanallen 528 2 Cars Posted May 16, 2007 the headgasket has gone on my new 306 rallye.........yes i'm seriously pissed. I've pulled the head off,stripped it and its away being skimmed now. I can tell that the head has been off in the past as it has loads of scratches and marks on the surface and it seems to have had 3 angle valves cut on the inlet side. when the previoius cowboy refitted the head he used some nasty silicone stuff inbetween the cam carriers and the head and on the vac pump. Does anyoe know if this is correct, or should they be fitted dry? cheers for any help and please feel free to let me know any other tips/pointers. cheers again al.
