ah250 0 Posted May 16, 2007 (edited) Hi, being relatively new to the 205 & this forum it is clear that there are many people with a good understanding of 205's and their relative 'known issues' etc..... I'm fairly handy with a spanner myself, but to be truthful not very trusting of 'local' garages. I'm sure that many people will agree....Just fell foul myself, asked local garage to look at oil leak (basically put on the ramps and tell me where its coming from, which they did. When i went to pick it up i was told how hard it was to detect leaks, that they had cleaned around the bottom of the engine, added some 'amazing leak seal product ' and bobs your uncle......If it still leaks bring it back & whe'll have another look - buy the way thats £40 please.... , for 10 minutes and a £2.99 bottle of Wynn's wunderjunk! Personally i would rather give my hard earned to someone with 205 experience than some 21 year old, fresh from his apprenticeship and working at Peugeot! Can anyone recommend certain garages in South Wales/Bristol (i'm in Chepstow), or even like to offer assistance with various jobs etc (i cant pay you obvioulsy for tax reasons, but i could give you a donation )...... You know the crack, many of you have done lots of work & know certain things inside out, others are unsure about how to do it and resolve to £loads/hr at garages.....Things such as replacing gear linkages, some say yep 20 minutes.....If its 20 minutes, some people would happily pay you £20 to do theirs! This also applies to bodywork etc......Just had a quote to respray a CTI at £1200+parts (that was a small back street garage!)...... There must be some good garages about, and also some good home mechanics looking for some extra£..... Cheers Dave Edited May 16, 2007 by ah250

Mikey G 3 Posted May 16, 2007 Bijou in Cwmcarn near Risca is about the only Peugeot/Citroen specialist i know. I can twiddle the spanners fairly well myself and if i have time i'm more than willing to lend a hand to forum members.
ah250 0 Posted May 16, 2007 (edited) Thanks Mikey for the info etc..... If we all learnt to help each other, we'd all be quids in!!!!! Any ideas for reasonable bodywork, i'm looking for a tidy up, not a show car... Cheers Dave Edited May 16, 2007 by ah250
Mikey G 3 Posted May 16, 2007 Bodywork isnt my thing, there are a few bodyshops around but the best nearest to you would be Musto's out Caldicot way, i know the panel beater that works there.

Bonzai 2 Posted May 16, 2007 there is a pug/citropen specialist in cardiff, but they concentrate more on the mainstream cars, not modified 205s. I used them once, they weren't cheap, but no garage is.
