yeti-dj 7 Posted May 15, 2007 hello, have destroyed the drivers side engine mount in the old 205 fitted with an Mi16 and havin trouble gettin a new one that fits. Problem is the new one i got seems to be about 4-5mm taller than the old one so now the cam cover hits the brake servo. I take it there must be slight differences but where do i get the one that i need??? Did do a search but couldnt find the answer so please help..... cheers people........ chris 417 mi 34 2 Cars Posted May 15, 2007 i fitted a new mount from a gsf equivalent parts supplier last year and it fitted fine , post a pic of your old mount, that might shed a bit of light on the problem !
James_m 0 Posted May 16, 2007 How does your exhaust manifold fit in relation to the bulkhead now? is it so high up the downpipeis close to/ hits the bulkhead?
welshpug 1,657 Posted May 16, 2007 4-5mm sounds about right for a worn mounting, new ones will be taller, my bet is that the engine was fitted when an old mount was in place hence the clearance problems weren't evident.
yeti-dj 7 Posted May 16, 2007 (edited) hello, yes the mount was old when i fitted the engine so that could be the problem. As for the exhaust manifold/downpipe i have had to cut alot off the downpipe to get it to clear everything fine so guessing fitting a new mount will cause problems with this, hopefully getting a 4 branch from Miles though soon so will get rid of the re-angled thing. I did try the new mount and when wellying it turning right the cam cover hit the brake servo and caused alot of vibration through the pedals, how do i get round this problem then if i fit the new mount? yeti Edited May 16, 2007 by yeti-dj
