jas-E 1 Posted May 14, 2007 hey, I bought a set of Gaz adjustable coilovers last year in november and they are almost completely covered in surface rust. Its almost impossible for me to adjust the height as they all have surface rust on the threads. Just wondering if other Gaz suspension users have the same issue. Its not really a problem, just doesnt look so good for £250 worth of front suspension!!
205007 12 Posted May 14, 2007 usually people put some sort of white grease or protection agent on the strut casing with the delicate threads on to protect them
Higgy 0 Posted May 14, 2007 I have front & rear dampers (non-adjustable height), and they seem to be ok (although I dont drive many miles in my 205). I did have to squirt some WD40 onto the rear damper adjustment knob/dial. They should have a passivate coating to protect them from corrosion? Have you driven your 205 a lot? Mine must have been on for 1.5 years. Higgy.

Hey Mate, Thas what i thought aswell - That they should be having some sort of coating to prevent it from rust. But guess not. I drive my 205 everyday. Its my daily drive - thats about 70miles each day..I thought that would have been a good thing though as opposed to if its just sitting about. Isnt that when the rust kicks in more?? Rippthrough 98 Posted May 15, 2007 My dampers are fine - but usually when fitting any coilovers you should voer the exposed threads with tape or wax.
