Sticking Rear Caliper Sliders

Recommended Posts

as above, when i torque up the rear caliper mounting bolts (the ones that are inside the sliders) the sliders sieze despite moving freely when not torqued up fully. the sliders are clean and greased. any ideas? thanks.

I had the same problem on my car.

When it was with its previous owner (my mate) the brake pads had come loose and got caught up in the wheel. He put them back in and thought nothing more of it but when I got it I realised the caliper wasn't sliding. The lugs on the trailing arm were slightly bent so the slider bolts weren't parralel. I had to get a new trailing arm pressed on to solve it.

Take the caliper off then put the bolts back onto the trailing arm and check if they are square or not.

I found mine a week before the MOT after a long term rebuild, these things always happen at the worst of times. Jonnie205 sorted mine out by pressing a spare arm on.

thanks, i'll have a look in the light tomorrow. thanks again.

would it be possible to take the hud off then put a different caliper carrier think on as i assume this is what would be damaged? the spare beem i have has knackered tube pivot thingys and stub axels so they would both need to be cahnged over. thanks again.
