Front Brakes Making A Loud Whirring Sound Under Braking!

Recommended Posts

Anton green

My front brakes are making a loud whirring sound under braking. Ive just had the rotors trued at Sheffield Engine Services as they were warped, but now Im getting 'rotor' related sounds??? Could this be something to do with me using the same pads as before the rotor skim?

Any idea what this could be?

(The only part which I havent replaced on the brakes recently would be the sliders b.t.w.)

Have you got grooved / drilled discs or just plain ones fitted?

highly likely if they weren't worn evenly IMO

Moving Shadow......dump the discs (they are only cheap lumps of iron) and get some new pads also. I won't get into a long conversation regarding the abiliy of a 205 to warp iron rotors, suffice to say, if you have any doubts over your brakes, replace with new.

Im running Rally Design 285mm cross-drilled discs up front on their spacing brackets, standard calipers and RedStuff pads...

I would say I did about 200 miles with these brake pads before I got the rotors skimmed btw. The guy who skimmed them said one of them was way out before he did his stuff.

From my experience, grooved and to a certain extent drilled discs are noisy when used, I liken it to a London underground train in some circumstances!

I have had the discs a while but this is the first time they have made 'rotation' sounds under braking, since they were skimmed...

?

You think this is probably nothing to worry about?

Does it still brake properly and in a straight line? I'd be tempted to run them for a while longer and then examine the pads/discs to see what's up

Yup, braking performance is phenomenal but it's the first I have heard of these sounds!
