just looked through my box of tricks (finally found out theres something up with my fuel pump realy circuitry somewhere causing mine not to start. Got my only bosch one in the car! stacks of cartier ones though!. Anyway i'll endeavour to have a look tomorrow and see if theres something missing. I'd be surprised as thats normally the solder side and the other side is the component side. If you need one then i'm sure i can sell you one for whatever the going rate is. I've found the cartier ones to be a bit more reliable (had 2 bosch ones go, this is the first cartier thats given me gip!

Anyway i'll report back tomorrow evening.

Rich

p.s. i'm assuming that the car won't start. Have you got an immobiliser? if so check the wiring for it as it may be playing up. Thats what i suspect with mine. I'll get some data on what to check as soon as i've dug it out of the joke book!.

Hi Lee,

sorry for the delay! been busy at work.

Anyway i've had a look at my bosch tachy relay. The bits you've pointed out should have the 2 wire ends of the small coil soldered to them. Turn the relay over so your looking at the component side (the one with all the electrickery bits on!) and the ends of the copper wires go there.

I seem to remember that when mine failed one of the wires had broken. Nigh on impossible to get it soldered back on though.

Hope that helps and let me know if you need any more info.

Cheers

Rich

When my relay "failed", I found it was because of dry solder joints. They weren't easily visible, but were with a magnifying glass. What you're looking for is a grey ring around the solder, instead of bright & shiny all over. All you need to do if you find any is put a dab of flux on the affected joint, apply soldering iron till solder melts ... job done. Mine had 2 dry joints so check thoroughly.
