westy 0 Posted May 13, 2007 Hi, my 1.9 205 has recently developed a nasty, LOUD squealing noise. Its coming from from alty/PAS pump/crank area. Could it be a bearing on the PAS pump? It only happens when the car's revved, but it can't be heard when its idling. Ideas?
westy 0 Posted May 13, 2007 nope, definately not the belt slipping...it sounds more mechanical.
feb 47 Posted May 14, 2007 Does it happen all the time or only sometimes? Does it happen when you turn the steering wheel? Does the steering become heavier when you get the noise? It could be a sticky pump?
PVFCpug 6 Posted May 18, 2007 I had the same and thought christ its the tensioner or something mechanical, but no it was just the belt. Wrong one fitted at some time and at the end of its adjustment, bought one 10mm shorter and problem solved!

Jrod 7 Posted May 18, 2007 I'd check the cambelt tensioner.
