Rad Fan Not Working

Recommended Posts

My fan does not work and I was wondering what the likely problem is...

Is it more likely to be the switch or the motor???

take out the plug on the fan switch on the rad(its a 3 pin).

Take a piece of speaker wire and touch it between two terminals (try diff combinations), you should have two speeds

If the fans come on then you need a new fan switch

If not then take the gray plug from the fans (behind the pass headlight), should be a black and red cable, connect this direct to the battery. If it does not come on then the fan is fcuked

It is the fan switch!!!

So all I need to do is blast another one on... Is GSF a suitable place to get one???

Never bothered with them before because i have heard bad things about them.

Got a new switch today...

this may sound lazy but is it possible to spanner the other one off and quickly shove the new switch in before loosing too much coolant? or is it best to do it the standard way and drain all the coolant, take the rad out etc.

Sod draining anything - you don't want to believe everything the joke book (Haynes) tells you!

P.S. Do try to avoid soaking the electrical connector though in the process.

I didn't bother draining anything. It was so much quicker doing it my way. 10min job. easy
