Long fingers?

Depends what you want to do to it. I found it easier on my 309 to remove the radiator as the inlet manifold required gaskets and i was a cheapskate. ;)

Take the starter off. Not an easy job. I split the inlet manifold on a 1.6 of mine before to allow more access

depends on what you want to do...

If you just want to reach the solenoid spade connector you can do it by lowering the alternator...

if you wan to remove/swap /check I would suggest you remove the radiator and fans as Mickey said

I always take the inlet off because i get frustrated quite easily. You might get a bit more access if you remove the throttle bodie?

Extra caution when taking the live cable off aswell, i always manage to snap the stud there quite delicate.

Take the starter out leaving the rad AND inlet mani in place. Its a bit fiddly but its not rocket science.

Last starter I swapped on an Mi all I removed was the TB etc & then it was easy access.

Id go for this option, its a bit fiddly, but it does come out. Or as mentioned by Graham take the TB off for better access.

You're all soft. Just undo the inlet manifold bolts and lift the whole lot off! Sooo much access.
