Mintex C-tech Discs And Pads-advice Please!

Recommended Posts

Timmer205

G'day

My brakes are standard and are very spongy at the mo, so before the mot i need to get them fixed. Also im possibly starting trackday's this summer so an upgrade would be ideal. Anyone have any recommendations on the above discs?

Have also been considering brembo max discs, reviews on these too would be much appreciated.

Cheers

Discs won't make much difference to be honest, they're just bigs lumps of iron after all. Standard ones will be fine.Uprated pads is where you'll notice a big difference in bite. Also, change the rubber lines for braided ones and change the fluid for some higher spec stuff. Your master cylinder may also be on it's way out. These don't cost a great deal and are easy to change if you are going to replace the fluid anyway.

Also check your solid lines as the last few I;ve changed have all been rather dangerious as one little move and they split, this is around the fuel tank area which you can;t see.

But lines etc as said and either some DS2500's or Mintex 1144's/Extreme pads are a good road/slight track use.

Yes, good point Miles re: the solid lines. Seen several cars recently (including mine) where the pipes have corroded. I guess it will be happening to most by now due to the age. When you get the car Mot'd, they'll do a brake test anyway and can identify if you have any problems with the calipers etc. I had to have a rear caliper replaced as it failed the brake test - even though it was unoticeable whilst driving, using the handbrake etc.

Ah good advice, thanks.

Going to buy the braided hoses regardless of whether it will solve the problem and let the mot guys tell me whats up with the system.

Then it's uprated pads and possibly calipers for the summer then ;-)

Cheers
