Recommended Posts

right well basically i have bought a 205. its had a 1.9gti engine in it.

when i bought it it ran fine..bearing in mind it had beenstood for more than 2 years.

i have been playing with the brakes etc... on it change fuel filter and oil etc.....

now i put £10 fresh fuel and it started first time.... but sounded like it was running on 3 cylinders... had to keep revs up to keep it goin.tried driving it but it would take it then after a few seconds it started to bog down abit then rev abit then it just cut out....

now it wont start at all.

any ideas?

i know there is deffinatly fuel gettin to the fuel rail because i cracked the nut open and it came out.

thanks lee

Check for spark on all 4, could have also flooded it, disconnect the injector plugs and crank it over.

I'd try putting some moire fuel in- the pump doesn't pick up from the very bottom of the tank and it was prob. well dry after a couple of years.

Crack off the fuel pipe and watch the fuel pump into a clean container whilst cranking- should be no air in the stream of fuel.My old grey cti took 15 quid of fuel before it would run properly after being sat for 6 months.

May be worth checking the gauze filter around the fuel pump too.and check that you've not knocked the distributer cap clips off or the afm / tps plugs adrift whilst working on something else (i admit to doing both of these and then looking for a more technical problem :( )
