sounds more like a linkage issue, are they on in right places and correct length, not bent etc?

Did you let the shaft drop into the box when you swapped the selector arm on the Mi16 box.

Gearbox has to come off to sort it unfortunately.....

If i remember correctly you can remidy the problem with the gearbox in the car. You just have to remove the diff, you can then push the selector arm rod from underneath.

will have a look over the weekend. with the diff off is it quite obvious? never really looked into a gearbox. hoping its not to much of a pain, cars getting close to being back on the road and this is the current major problem.

but im sure they'll be more to come!

Miles is the person to answer that question but I understand its not that difficult to fix with the diff out.

Just to reiterate a pointer for if you need to swap the selector arm on a gearbox for use in a 205.

I've just swapped one over on a box that originated in a ZX for a 205 selector arm & everytime I've done this I've put the gearbox into fifth.

With the gearbox in front of your (off the car), arm you are swapping to the right & other arm also to the right, drive the double roll pin out & remove the old selector arm.

Fit the new one & refit the double roll pin. Once thats full home again check you can select six gears by moving the two selector arms.

First & second gears are arm you've just swapped to the left, fixed arm left & right.

Release the swapped arm so it centre's & again move the fixed rod left & right (third & fourth).

Swapped arm to the right, fixed rod right if fifth.

With the swapped arm moving further to the right with the gearbox in neutral & then the fixed arm moving left, this should give you reverse.

Took less than 10 minutes to do the swap.

Graham.
