ashlee205gti 1 Posted May 9, 2007 Trying to get my car to start, but i'm not sure if i am getting the timing right, this is what i have been doing. 1. Turn engine so piston No.1 is at its highest position. 2. Look at where the dizzy is pointing and put the HT lead for No.1 in that position. 3. Plug the other leads in the following order. 1-3-4-2? Car keeps turning over and over, i have spark and i have fuel but it refuses to catch.
petert 586 Posted May 10, 2007 Piston #1 on TDC Compression, rather than TDC Exhaust. Rotate all the plug leads around 180 degrees to quickly check.

M_R_205 5 1 Cars Posted May 10, 2007 (edited) thats the way i did it seems the only way to me, another thing i did was to loosen the dizzy and and disconect the wire that goes to the starter solonoid and fit a new one that you can connect to the battery possitive by hand, turn the ignition on and use that to spin the engine over while adjusting the dizzy as if its a little out it will struggle to start, have you ran a compression test??? just to be on the safe side Edited May 10, 2007 by M_R_205
