If you can get a ZF diff, originally supplied by Peugeot Sport then these are spot on.

But others are also very good, but i only have experience in these

1) do a search

2) what diff will depend on the application, as you will see from various threads on LSD choices.

Yes ZF all day long BUT No.1 will funds allow you to buy a £1200 diff (with driveshafts)? No.2 you can't exactly guarantee to find one from one month to the other! And No.3 they are a proper group "A" rally item, So do you think your car and driving abilitys are really up for the job?! ;) So the next best thing to the ZF is a Tran-x, They are a bit more "agricultural" to the ZF but still do the job in question superbly. I have used all 3 of them on various peugeot rally cars over the years and thus came to the Tran-x conclusion. Don't even think about the quaife as you will be very dissapointed!

Yes...for track use I would go TranX or Gripper.

Quaife is good for public road cars and dailydrivers.

ZF is very good, but you need custom driveshafts.

The ZF diff you can use the 306 inner shaft to save the silly amount they ask for the driveshafts, but there are 2 types of ZF the early one which has a bespoke crownwheel which I hate to think of the cost and the later ones use the std crownwheel.

But as said for track work Plate type diffs are really the only choice

Okay...so the ZF diff is the same size as the 'big diff' as used on the late 306s and HDIs ?

Well I;ve used the 306 innner shaft on the ZF diff, but if buying one it wouldn;t be on my list due to the cost

@Miles: Why do you say plate diffs are the only choice for track work? Surely quaifes work fine as you dont lift a front wheel on the track unless you bounce over a curb during a spin or something. Is it because the plate ones can send more load to the wheel with grip? I know lots of people in sprinting that use Quaifes that like them and have no complaints (granted that they may not have tried a plate one)

On a related note. Why is it that (afaik), the TranX plate diff thats designed for a BE3 box needs some of the diff housing milling out? How can it be well designed if thats the case. I can only think its the same as one of their other models just with different bearings or something and would have needed a complete re-engineer to avoid this need to grind?

Then of course there was that recent thread I saw somewhere on here about a bad batch of TranX diffs failing really quickly

What about 1.5 way Kaaz ones? They seem comparable on value at £517 inc vat. Do they require the diff housing modifying? I am about to get a diff you see and I was going to get a quaife but may consider a plate one. I dont have PAS but then most people on here say its ok without. My things quite light currently at speed

The gripper ones need the same mod to the gearbox but both are a good Diff, I;ve fitted A Kaaz diff and it fit's without mod's but my choice is the first 2 as they are UK based and servicing/parts are easy to get, not saying that Kaaz are not but once bitten and all that.
