Humming Noise From Front

Recommended Posts

jas-E

hey,

iv got a weird problem with my 205. I almost killed my engine as once when i was driving it one of the rocker cover bolts came undone and all my oil pissed out...luckily it dint die completely, and im in the middle of a mi16 rebuild so just ploddin along.

Anyway, after that iv got this real annoying humming sound from the front of the engine..sounds like its from under the dash, and from the engine bay it seems to be coming from the far left near the fuel pump..

it only comes when the cars idling or driving between 1000 to 2000 rpm range..and sometimes it doesnt come up at all..!!

any ideas/suggestions wud be appreciated..

thanks..

Jas

Cambelt tensioner or alternator on its way out?

The fuel pump is in the fuel tank under the rear seats.

By the way;

when asking questions or making replies, make full use of vocabulary and grammar

which means that "txt spk" and "CAPS LOCK" (aka shouting) will not be tolerated.

also, only english language is allowed for use in public conversations

its definitely not the cambelt top cover. just checked it again. well my cambelt is due for a change anyway now so will change that over the weekend and see if theres any difference. Didnt realise that the tensioner would make such a noise. Anyway cheers for your comments and will let u know if its still there.

(apologies for text chatting!!)

Not sure what you been doing with your engine. But its either the throttle or the clutch cable. There is a plastic plug that snaps into teh bulkhead. If that is not it then you can get a hissing/tapping coming from teh bulkhead
