Help Few Things Wrong Here And Plus Need A Few Questions Answered :d

I have resently brought a 309xsi, the engine is the same as the 205 1.6gti, its pre 89" so im not 100% percent sure if its going to fail on emissions. Also i can get my car to idle, it was a big problem at first but its kind of ok, now say for instench yesterday i sorted the idle out with the idle brass mixter screw, when engine is warm. Idles at 1,200 rpm, and today i go out, engine idles at 1,700 rpm rev it it will drop to 1,500rpm then up n down revs, can it fail on m,o,t ? it is also missing a bit so could that be a problem ???? whats the idle rpm to have it rufly on these cars , thanks you for reading if i can help you i will thanks.

try to get a warm idle at around 1k with co level of 1.5-2%. If its hunting about I would suspect either an air leak on the intake or over fueling. Loads of topics covering these issues so I wont go into detail as a quick search will bring up every possible answer

Nice to know there's at least one 309 XSi on the road! I had one a few years ago and haven't seen one for a long time.

between me and my friends we have had 4 , the was only around 150 made wasnt they, love the car though first can and wouldnt sell it for the love of the money ,, thanks richie , ill have a look, but do you no on the C0 beacuse its pre cat where do i stand on the C0 side in a m.o.t , that reminds me it is overflueing, is there any way i can turn down a bit on the regulator of anywhere ???? thanks j

You can't adjust the standard fuel regulator, there is a small amount of adjustment on the AFM but really you need to be plugged up to a tester to get it right.

 

If its under 3.5% CO for the MOT & the hydrocarbons are within limits it should be fine for the MOT.
