When I first got the car and finally got it started, it was running rough, stuttering on acceleration, I put it down to not being run much in the last 2 years or maybe the supercharger. Obviously had a good look over it today, still can't solve the stuttering problem (not changed leads, plugs etc...yet.) Looking at the AFM and the K&N attached to it, it looks like it has been botched up, doesn't seem to be on proper at all. Could this cause the stuttering on acceleration? ie air leak.

Have a look at this photo link to see what you think of the AFM setup.

Lynx

Cheers

Tommy

hello, sounds like a problem i had, it can be that water ect has got in the engine trow the afm and that beacuse it caused mine to be like it for a bit, or also it could be stavered of fuel do you have a boost value could help if not that much fuel is getting trow , hope that helps a bit, if it a air leak take you k n N off and get a metal plate covering it up and see if the engine stalls and if it dont could be a air leak thanks j

I may be wrong here , but id guess the 2 extra senders in the inlet manifold will be used to detect and fuel when on boost. a standard AFM will not work for higher than a few psi i shouldnt think.

stuttering is more often caused by poor plugs in my experience. try a new set and play with gap size.

do you have any more info on the conversion?

all the info i know is what was with the advert

1.9 GTI gear box fitted with LSD (longer final drive and revised gear ratios),

Fast road Cam,

Gas flowed cylinder head larger inlet valves

Remapped management to cope with supercharger,

Induction kit,

Magnex 4 branch sports manifold, and full system

Strut brace.

unless i knew who built it and could approach them for advise.

is there any info in the ecu, ie a chip carrier and a non factory chip?sometimes a name will be on the chip.

ok got the running spot on and boy is she fast :P changed leads, plugs etc...it was the plugs in the end

so i'm left with two problems

1st when I put my foot down and take it of i get a cloud of white smoke :)

2nd it has a high pitch sound like a screech the more you put your foot down the louder it get's is this normal with a supercharger or is this a knackered supercharger(with the cloud of white smoke )

thanks

tom
