pugbliss 0 Posted May 6, 2007 hi, im trying to fault find a prob im having when driving on the motorway at 75-90 mph. it sort of stutters and when it does i lose a little power but if i drop the speed to say 65-70 all is fine again . n0w im thinking ignition probs so can someone please explain how the coil and ignition amp work whilst driving and in relation to one another? cheers joe
Mikey G 3 Posted May 6, 2007 The ignition amp is just that, its an amplifier that boosts the signal from the ECU to drive the coil. I'd look at fuel problems and maybe a new set of plugs and leads etc
205007 12 Posted May 6, 2007 when stuttering does the rev counter fluctuate? you need to see if it drops but not with the enginespeed if that makes sense if so it it likley to be coil related
pugbliss 0 Posted May 7, 2007 205007.......erm i dont think it does, but i havent rearly looked to be honest. something i should of told you all is that the ignition componants havent been renewed for aprox 2 years. so maybe the car is just trying to tell me somthing????? Is there a way to test the coil to see if its working as it should or is it just a case of replace it and wait and see if it stops stuttering? and is it same goes for the ignition amp???? what am i looking at to replace all componants??? £80 for ..plugs, leads, dizzy cap and roter, coil , ignition amp.....
