GazRallye 0 Posted May 3, 2007 The tailpipe has dropped of my exhaust, silencer is still intact just the last few inches, seems like a pretty random thing to happen, but that pugs for you! It makes the car stink inside and im not too happy to drive it far, I need the window down and even then, its bad Anyway I see xs backboxes are not much over £20 + vat from gsf, but i was thinking are cherry bombs really that loud if i keep the centre silencer, or are they just for the domain of 1.1 novas and the like? more for s*its and giggles than anything else, tell me what you think people cheers
Jrod 7 Posted May 3, 2007 Get one made by the same company as the 4 branch maifolds. I've got one and it's lush, not much bigger than standard but chrome and has a nice grumble.
GazRallye 0 Posted May 3, 2007 I'm on a bit of a budget at the mo, and i imagine it'd have to be imported from Italy? Anyone know the diameter of the xs exhaust? I could just get a bit of pipe welded on instead of the back box or is that a silly idea?
johnnyboy666 195 1 Cars Posted May 3, 2007 ive got a peco big bore 3, its got a 3 inch chromed tailpipe which is quite subtle and not too loud (untill i put the 1.1 centre section on that is) looks quite tidy aswell compared to the standard greyish bit of old pipe

GazRallye 0 Posted May 4, 2007 Nick and Johnny you both have PM Dave W, cheers for the link, bit out of my budget right now, i'm guessing 90mm is the tail pipe diameter and not the pipe diameter Does anyone know the diameter of a GTi or XS exhaust, or know if a GTi back box will fit an XS centre section? DaveW 6 Posted May 8, 2007 Gti backbox may fit if not you could cut the olive off and weld the xs olive on which is smaller.

GazRallye 0 Posted May 8, 2007 how come, was it too loud or something?
Jrod 7 Posted May 8, 2007 Na, just doesn't suit his car. We use it for rallying so it's all caged up etc loads of dents huge fugly mudflaps and a chrome tip just didnt look right.

Jrod 7 Posted May 9, 2007 Yes Antony it is. They are the same size as standard which keeps the noise down and doesn't look chavvy or nout.
christopher 5 1 Cars Posted May 9, 2007 Thats street sleeperish This is what my 70mm supersprint looks like. It is actually quieter then the standard one that I had.
GazRallye 0 Posted May 12, 2007 In the end i went to the scrappy and had one off a Junior, the silencer was a little longer but it fits bob on, don't think it will restrict it at all, took it out and it seems miles better as the throttle response doesn't seem to be as 'on and off' and jerky, probably the easiest job i've ever had to do!
