DaveK 0 Posted May 3, 2007 On the larger beam mount, the top of the shocker, the bolts are offset from eachother. Is this the same as eveyone elses? Reason i ask is that some of the solid rear mounts appear to be just a circular spacer with a hole directly in the middle, ie http://www.bakerbm.com/suspension.php?data=sar (The not improved fit ones) Confused as to how they will fit without drilling another hole in the frame Cheers, Dave
zilog 0 Posted May 3, 2007 I have made such mounts myself, and they fit. The mounts are offset by maybe 10mm, but they bend easily, so its no big problem to fit them.
jackherer 543 Posted May 3, 2007 As zilog said you just bend the arms a bit, its fairly easy unless you're trying to bolt a cage to them as well as I found out last week... The improved fit ones go straight on, hence the name
skeggyrik 3 Posted May 3, 2007 I refitted my beam last week with new fixed, group A mounts, of the type you describe. You just need to push them over slightly to get them to line up. No real force needed, the offset is minimal. In my opinion it's not worth the extra money for the offset ones. I fitted the beam myself without help and this wasn't an issue. In fact the way it fastens up with a single bolt made it easier for me to get the beam up and over the shaft of the bolt and quickly get a nut on the end of the bolt to hold it there while I got the other side up. As I tightened it all up it pulled itself in to shape. No bother. Save yourself the £15 for the differnce it makes. Have fun with those front flexible bushes, they are a real pig to get out. DaveK 0 Posted May 3, 2007 and twisting isnt really doing any damage to the shockers etc?
