Rear Beam Grease Recommendation

Recommended Posts

V8Pete

Can anyone recommend a grease (or greases) to use in the torsion bar splines, and inside the tube? I imagine something fairly thick would be ideal - does anyone know any suitable 'make and model' (for want of a better word) of grease to use?

I can't remember what's in my grease gun, but it seeps out of the gun, so I imagine that'd be useless in the beam. All the cartridge blurbs say the grease is good for everything, long life, superior performance, blah blah, so I'm puzzled. Are there viscosity ratings like with oil?

I use copper grease for the splines. Dont know if it is ideal, but it has worked for me. I use a mixture of Lithium and MoS-grease for the rear beam bearings, but I think it doesnt matter which matter as long as it has lithium base to keep moisture out.

I use a molybdenum disulphide grease on the torsion bar splines on beams I rebuild.

The stuff I have is Renolit anti-seize paste (aka Silkolene 751 anti-seize). (available from Opie oils, £34.99 for 500g :() (Spec sheet here.)

For the bearings I use Mobil 35.

Graham.
