Feecking Rear Beam Boll**ks!

'Yer right, you can give up now!'i hear you all saying...

well i got as far as taking the first arm off, bearings are still in the tube and not dissintergrated, but the outer of the shaft is heavily pitted.

the other side however, the arm came off leaving the shaft in the tube still ffs. so now what do i do short of twatting some1 with the tube/shaft combo?! the tube itself looks pretty good, i think the car was laid up just in time to stop the bearings wearing out.

so how do i get the shaft out? is heating the tube/outer housing a wise idea? and anyone whos rebuilt a beam before, is this end likely to be more damaged than the other end?

as the bearings have not collapsed/disintegrated there should be no damage to the tube itself.

a scaffold pole if of sufficient diameter to slide all the way through and rest up against the stuck shaft, whereupon you can smash away to your hearts content.

another thing that may help to free it off it to drill a hole diagonally through the part of the shaft thats sticking out and use a rod to try and turn it to break the seal.

Get a replacement tube from a scrap car & a radius arm with shaft at the same time.

If the radius arm shaft has seized into the centre tube then it is scrap so don't even bother trying to get the rest of it out. It'd be a waste of time imo, you'll need to replace them anyway.
