How To Disconnect Immobiliser?

Recommended Posts

Mike Walker

I know it's not adviseable to discuss this on an open forum but can anyone advise me by PM or email on how I might disable my aftermarket immobiliser on my 1988 1.6 GTi?

I'm not trying to nick the car honest guv, it's in relation to this thread http://forum.205gtidrivers.com/index.php?s...c=73036&hl=

Cheers

Find out where its been spliced in & either bridge the connections to how they were before fitting or cut the immobilser out.

Quite often it'll be in the ignition barrel wiring & not the car loom so a seperate ignition barrel will bypass it.

hmmm, ok I think it's time to take the rest of the dash out :) i've also enquired about getting an auto electrician to have a look at it which I think I might do now as my partners car is off the road again (stupid Rover hydropnuematic suspension) so we're completely screwed for getting around

You shouldn't need to take the dash out to get to the ignition barrel plugs, just the lower dash panel.

The barrel plugs are usually by the sidewall clipped to the top of the footwell outer side panel, two plugs one white with four wires & on brown with two in.
