Baz 421 Posted April 30, 2007 Standard ones wouldn't come apart afaik! They won't rebound alone without a spring no, all they do is damp!
C_W 3 1 Cars Posted April 30, 2007 If the standard ones are oil then they won't come back up on their own, only gas pressurised ones do that. In fact my Koni dampers seemed to sink on their own when left on the bench.

welshpug 1,657 Posted April 30, 2007 they should extend to some extent, the bilstein o.e ones I fitted recently did anyway!
swordfish210 20 Posted April 30, 2007 they should extend to some extent, the bilstein o.e ones I fitted recently did anyway! ditto on that. dampers are supposed to rebound on their own but over time they become worn and slack and that dont rebound anymore. Get some bilstein O.E dampers, i just fitted some as that were the same price as the other dampers available at ECP and being bilstein they're better quality
Ahl 4 Posted April 30, 2007 No, C_W is correct. Standard oil dampers won't rebound, only gas pressurised ones. A lot of O.E shocks these days are do have the gas however, like O.E Bilstein and others. If you were to get the very original OEM shocks from Peugeot, they wouldn't rise on their own.
