Driveshaft Oil Seals

Recommended Posts

yorkshirekowboy

hello all

i replaced my wishbone at the weekend on the pass side, and all went well until i noticed now i have a driveshaft oil seal thats leaking, but on the drivers side (long shaft), how can this be? strange as if anyhting i would have disturbed the pass (small shaft) seal if anything.... so what can i do

the seals were replaced about 3 months ago, and now im stuck in what to do, i mean will it cure its self,....??

was thinking i know the big shaft, (drivers side big one) has a bracket which keeps it in place, is it possible that the shaft might have moved abit allowing the shaft not to sit properly, making it leak?.

Should i undo the bracket and push the shaft if i can a bit more into the housing?? or is the seal now broken and will have to be replaced????

i mean my diff housing was leaking had it sorted so new oil and seals went in, so hopefully the seals will still be ok, and maybe cure its self!!!

i hope this makes sence,

cheers

i fitted a long shaft at work on friday, i think its random tbh weather the seals leak afterwards or not, this is the second out of 100s of shafts ive fitted that leaked! there only a few quid ne, may aswell replace them at the same time as taking a shaft out tbh.

yeah mate true, but means agin draining all my oil and stuff, did this 3 months ago, but i rememebr when doing it it leaked while ont eh ramp as the driver side wasnt in all the way, (long shaft) so mayeb if i undid the clamp and move it more into diff housing may cure, but what i dont understand is how i have managed to break the seal, when i was working on pass side of car, i mean the pass side leaked abit as i had to knock the wishbone out of hub, so pass shaft i understand, but it just gets me why the drivers side leaking....

grrrrr
