Another problem with the 205 from hell.

It won't start over at all, nothing. I have checked the battery is charged, i have even got the jump leads out and tryed to use the other car to jump it.

I will try and break down exactly what happens.

1. Turn the key on, dashboard lights up with STOP and all the other warning lamps.

2. Turn the key to start, starter goes 'click', fuel pump whirrs, but all the lights on the dash go out.

Tryed to battery, thats fine.

Turned the key with the headlights on, they don't dim.

Tryed a spare starter motor but that doesnt do anything either.

Please help! :D

probably best served with a search under "brown multiplug" as it sounds like supply problem to the solenoid.

Check the engine earth wire on the gearbox stud is tight, I had this just last week on one car & it was an embarrassing thing to miss after swapping a starter.

as graham says, sounds like the main earth strap has failed, could even be a loose or contaminated battery terminal, clean all the contacts and check everythings tight then try again.

Sounds to me like the brown multiplug, which you'll find under the AFM. Easy way to check is get a 2 foot odd length of wire with a lucar terminal on one end & connect the terminal to the solenoid connection on the starter. You'll need to remove the car's solenoid wire first, & preferably disconnect the battery until you've got the temporary wire connected. Once battery is reconnected, just touch the other (bared) end of the wire on the positive battery terminal, & you hopefully will find the starter will spin over. If not, suspect the main earth terminal on the gearbox. I take it your main positive terminal at the starter is fine? Mine was stupidly made of steel & had corroded/burnt badly.
