Jenvy Throttle Bodies

Recommended Posts

After sitting in solid traffic for approx 30 mins my engine cuts out,

I have been told by jenvy that throttle bodies dont like getting hot,

does anyone else have this problem.

thanks

What a load of crap. Mine was on Jenveys, never even saw rollers for mapping (road only by Sandy) and it was fine in traffic. Take it back to whoever mapped it and ask them about the IAT compensation.

rubbish, sounds like it needs mapping again

Maybe bad location on you air-temp sensor. Mine does heatsoak if it's not driven at a certain speed and does lean out the mixture significantly, because the air that the engine really breathes is colder than air-temp sensor reading.

I'm going to change the location when I get time.

Just been mapped by longmans, 2 weeks ago

Dont get me wrong, it drives like a dream but 30min in traffic the revs will die and then it fires straight up and is fine. Or once you start moving again it sorts its self out and will take another 30mins in traffic.

Whats heatsoak?

Wheres air temp sensor?

Thanks

I have just spoken to longmans, and they have explained why it does it.

Basically its a couple of reason, my trumpets nearly touch the rad and i have two fans so it getting blasted with hot air (which they do not like). at the same time having two fans draws more power when they come on which also makes it cut out.

So i fixed my fan so both speeds work (changed solinoid), removed 1 fan, and have put smaller trumpets on and my misses has taken it to work and sat in 45min of solid trafic and it did not cut out once.

maybe fixed the problem?

you need to lower the rad, refit the long trumpets and put a plate of alloy or similar under the trumpets to the top of the rad to duct cold air to them.

simply changing the trumpets isnt ideal, it will run, but the mapping wont be quite right.

erm no, your fuel map will now probably need tweaking, you could be running lean/rich at some points.

Sounds like you need a cold air feed to protect hot air from the rad getting into the trumpets

the size i changed to does not change the way the car runs, you just loose a bit of performance, i checked before i got them.

It will change it in some way, I saw this when trying different trumpets whilst mapping at Emerald.

Lowering the rad is definately required too as otherwise the engine just takes in hot air = decreased performance etc.........

I've got the air temp sensor right next to the trumpets, in the filter base plate - I think this is about the best place for it.
