Developed A Missfire

Recommended Posts

Hi

Hopefully somebody will be able to help with this problem my car seems to of developed.

The car is a phase 2 1.9 gti with gassed flowed head and Piper 270 cam and full Magnex manifold and system, the way the car was set up it used to feel a bit lumpy up to just about 3000 rpm.

Took her out for a blast tonight and she seems to of developed a miss-fire, strange thing about it is though once you get past 3500-4000 rpm she goes like an absolute rocket, then, not every time but sometimes, when the revs get back down to about 3500 the miss-fire comes back.

I've tried removing the leads one at a time to see if she sounds the same but that just seems to make the miss-fire sound worse.

Also if I give her a bit of rev when stationary it nearly sounds as if it going to start pinking.

Does anyone have any ideas please.

Thanks

Dave

O.k problem solved, well not solved but know what needs to happen anyway.

Just popped to a garage and had a compression test done, the cylinder nearest the dizzy is only showing 60 and the plug is black, the bloke at the garage said I may of bent a valve :P , heads got to come off anyway.

Still got to look on the bright side I suppose, first real major problem I've had in 3 years.

Dave
