Fitting Et 37 7inch Wheels

Recommended Posts

Guest Megster

I have a set of 7 inch aftermarket Speedlines with ET37. What spacers do I need to buy to fit them correctly. Tyres are 200/50/15 Dunlop Slicks. Brakes are standard disks and calipers front and rear. Car is only used for short bursts of Hillclimbing and sprinting.

Thanks - Alun

at least 20mm if not 25 seeing as they're 7" and have 200 width tyres.

I was looking at these...

Forgive me if this sounds stupid, but does the fact that I've gone up an inch in wheel width to 7 inches affect the size of the spacer, or do you need the same size spacer as you'd use with a 6 inch rim with the same ET of 37?

Thanks - Alun

yes it does affect it, a wheel with an ET of 19mm, like the original wheels which are nominally 6" wide will have roughly 94mm from the face of the hub to the inside edge of the wheel.

Increase the width to 7" but use the same 19mm offset and youll have a distance of roughly 107mm.

which is why a 6" rim with an ET of 37 would need an 18mm spacer, but a 7" one would need one of about 25mm at least to clear the inner arch.

Et 13 with a 7 inch Rim running 205 50 15 JUST touched the trailing arm.

I mean literally it didn't slow the wheel down at all you could just hear it skim it really lightly.

They're fat tyres (and tallish too) so I think you're going to have some rubbing somewhere either way/side.
