skinner2k3 3 Posted April 24, 2007 (edited) Hi Looking into cages for the track car. Will probably go for an omp. I have noticed YB racing are selling a light weight cage, the AB106126R which only weighs 16.5kgs, as its made of CrMo. Looking on the omp site it states that it is lighter yet torsionally stonger and doesnt suggest its a "show" cage or the like, although its not approved by FIA. Does anyone have any views on this cage? I am a little concerned it may trade off strength in favour of weight. Price wise there is barely any difference between it and the std AB105126 cage. GTI6BOY 29 Posted April 24, 2007 i was gonna get 1, but they dont have door bars so take the weight of the door bars and it will not be far off the normal cage. theres also a few months wait for the light cage as they are made to order i think and come from italy for safty reasons i just got the original. omp cages are fia approved

Kev-G 1 Posted April 24, 2007 (edited) Thats a good price/delivery! Must go and have a look on PSOOC No need - I can do them through here aswell!! Std. 10Pt. OMP bolt-in is £335 delivered as stated - Usually in-stock now. Lightweight cage is made of a different (lighter ) material, doesn't come with door bars, and the rear diagonal is fixed rather than removable. I can also supply the lightweight cage (along with ALL OMP Parts), but in my experience delivery has been around 8-10 wks. Jrod 7 Posted April 24, 2007 Kev, Can you give me a price on the multipoint OMP cage? Part Number AB/106/126 (according to ebay)
skinner2k3 3 Posted April 24, 2007 Cheers Kev will probably have one off you then. Does it come with all mounting plates, nuts and bolts that I will need? Cheers
Rippthrough 98 Posted April 24, 2007 (edited) Not quite, it's made out a much stronger steel alloy, so thinner tubing can be used to get the same strength, making the cage lighter, but the material density is similar. The problem with cro-moly cages is that if the welds aren't treated and normalised they exhibit little strength, T45 is a better choice. Kev-G 1 Posted April 24, 2007 Cheers Kev will probably have one off you then. Does it come with all mounting plates, nuts and bolts that I will need? Cheers Comes with all mounting plates - You need to get 16 M10 (IIRC) Allen Head bolts to bolt the cage to the mounting plates. Available from any decent hardware store. Jrod, System is slow - I'll come back to you
