blackpug 0 Posted April 23, 2007 I'm in a bit of a hurry and i need to know has anyone managed to fit this profile tyre on a 205? It's for a road rally car so must not have arch extensions and it's on standard suspension. I dont mind belting the arches out to fit em or trimming the bumper edges down. I dont mind a bit of scrubbing either as long as it isnt too bad. Reason i ask is i know of a huge pile of tyres in this size i can have for free, plus i could do with the extra ground clearance. Cheers in advance, Ad.
welshpug 1,657 Posted April 23, 2007 they wont fit in the rear arches, they'll rub on the bumper and catch on the arch on compression. best off sticking to 185 55 15", or running 14"s
blackpug 0 Posted April 23, 2007 I used to run 14's but i was surfing on the sumpguard alot, i dont mind cutting the bumpers to fit or sledging the arches out a bit as it's a rally car. Just wondering if someone had got them to fit. My main worry is catching on the beam or front struts.

Dan Ingram 1 Posted April 23, 2007 I tried 205/60/15s I think definately 205 wide anyway and the scrubbed like mad on the back.
SPGTi 2 Posted April 24, 2007 (edited) Way too big without serious modification and 4x4 ride height. The diameter will be at least 640mm. Get a tape measure and have a look. Steve Edited April 24, 2007 by SPGTi
blackpug 0 Posted April 24, 2007 We've run 65 profile chunky's on cars before so i can make them fit that way but it's width i was worried about. Having got the car on a lift last night i dont think there's enough space between the tyre an the beam to fit 205's. Oh well
Jrod 7 Posted April 24, 2007 I've got 205/50/15 on the rears at the moment and it just rubs even with bigger arches. (it's very low though)
Richie-Van-GTi 72 2 Cars Posted April 25, 2007 Im sure the 65's only rub the arch trim on the rear, easy enough to cut the lip of it and gain a bit more clearance, could maybe even shot the rear end up 5mm on the torsion bars. Front end if it rubs on full lock you may get away with 5mm spacers or some slightly harder standard length springs.
