Fast Idle

Recommended Posts

I've managed to get my car running ok other than having very high idle, the screw on the throttle body is all the way in. What could cause this.

If you tap the accelerator ithe revs drop down but then pick back up.

try adjustying the throttle stop screw, it may be holding the throttle part open, assume that youve checked the throttle cable isnt holding it open? Other than that ignition too far advanced or an air leak.

Thanks for the reply

I don't think theres a problem with the cable but you've given me a few things to check

Its going for its MOT on Wednesday, they can look at it but i'd rather sort it out myself first.

Have you tried squeezing the hose from the SAD to see if it drops down again?

what do you class as a high idle? i had the same problem, can't remember what cured it though, it wasn't an air leak or anything like that, may have been ignition timing.
