Dan Ingram 1 Posted April 22, 2007 I picked up my new 205 a couple of weeks ago. It hasnt been pulling quite as well as my last one from day one. I advanced the timing slightly which helped but upped the idle speed so I turned that down and it idles spot on. It pulls well to about 4k but then starts to hesitate through the rest of the rev range so I replaced the ignition module as after doing a search that seemed like the most obvious problem. It hasnt hepled Does anyone have any ideas that I could try?? Im going to replace the coolent temp sensor as its not exactly expensive but im not sure if that would be a cause of the problem. Would retracking the AFM help at all or does that just help with idling issues?? Another possibilty is the leads and plugs but they look to be ok. Would blocked injectors be anything to do with it?? I have no idea if they are or not im just trying to think of anything that would cause the problem. Although this usually effects things more at lower rpm imo if it hasd bad tracking on the pick ups this could be part of the problem. Rob_the_Sparky 9 Posted April 23, 2007 Doubt ignition timing will cure hesitation - sounds like a poor spark for whatever reason. AFAIK there is no easy way of telling where though so it would be check the usual suspects time. Guest Puddlez Posted April 23, 2007 My GTI did this when i got it first! Would get to around 4k and not want to rev any more! Found out in the end that it was the Throttle cable! There is a Cam on the Throttle Body that the Throttle cable sits on, it had fallen off this! Put it back on and i've now got full throttle again and it revs lovely Worth a look? boombang 2 Posted April 23, 2007 Aye it does. Can't recall which pin is which but there are only 3 pins IIRC so a few seconds with a multimeter and it should be pretty obvious.
