as pic really, its just flapping about in my engine bay causing me sleepless nights! It exits the split loom cable armoring stuff at the same point as the wire marked in the pic.

Any ideas?

from the colour its possibly the oil temp sender wire, notorious for snapping. Hard to work out from the pic and angle though.

It took me while to work out but the picture is of behind the inlet manifold.

You seem to have wires on both the oil pressure sensors otherwise I would suggest it is one of them. I can only suggest that it is the alternator warning light wire.

if its the alt warning wire, doesnt the light stay on?

yes it would, its normally a red wire as well.

the oil temp wire should run from bak of sump up and into the brown multiplug in the engine bay, normally around the SAD area.

It would if it grounded, but if it is the alternator wire and its not touching anything else the light will stay off.

Given where the wire comes from it is almost certainly a wire associated with the brown multiplug.

I've just had a look at my brown multiplug diagrams and now I'm confused.

The snapped wire does look white, in which case it is most likely to be the oil temp sensor. However the colour of the oil pressure sensor wires look wrong, they should be orange and grey but are red and orange. I would suggest checking the wire colours match up with the sensors.

Brown (7A) - Alternator

Orange (30) - Oil Pressure Warning Light (Above oil filter on left)

White (30A) - Oil Temperature Sensor (In the sump at the back of the engine)

Grey (30B) - Oil Pressure Guage (Above the oil filter, looks like a mushroom)

Thick Blue (46B) - Starter Solenoid Wire

Yellow (47) - Coolant Warning Light (At the back of the head by the dizzy on the left)

Red (47A) - Coolant Temperature Guage (At the back of the head by the dizzy on the right)
