pugman211 0 Posted April 22, 2007 Hi guys, i need to replace my BE1 clutch cable with a BE3 (thats what came with my Mi engine). But i think theres a bracket missing off the gearbox as there only appears to be the clutch arm present. Basically as u look down at the gearbox, towards the bulkhead (on the back of the box) is the selector arms, then on top is the breather, then infront of that is the clutch arm. But how do i tell if its a push type or pull type???? at present, clutch arm is really close to gearbox casing (i.e, near enough parallel). when u press the clutch will this move towards the bellhousing or towards the gearbox??? I know i have to change the pedal in the car as well, and im gonna probably buy a self adjusting cable unless advised otherwise. any help will be great thanks Baz
pug_life 0 Posted April 22, 2007 (edited) just done this on my car, fitted mi16 engine and box to a BE1 car... you'll need cable, pedal and obviously depending on box the selector arm if its an mi16 box... Just get a peugeot cable, theyre £14+vat from pug theres a bolt thru pedal box that holds the pedal in: http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n302/no...E3/Image005.jpg Then theres a spring to get the pedal to come back up after depressing it: http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n302/no...E3/Image003.jpg the clip and pin that holds cable to pedal on BE1: http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n302/no...E3/Image007.jpg and the difference between BE1 and BE3 pedals: http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n302/no...E3/Image016.jpg http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n302/no...E3/Image013.jpg The BE3 has the hook end for cable.... I cut and welded my selector arm as i didn't have a 205 one spare, this is only needed if using a 405 gearbox... http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n302/no...16/DSC02388.jpg edit; image file sizes under 120k please. pugman211 0 Posted April 22, 2007 I dont think im gonna have trouble with the selector arms. as the selector that goes forwards and backwards on gearstick end just need turning 180 degrees so it will click on the selector rod. Just need to replace the shorter one that goes from left to right. I was more worried about having a clutch cable bracket missing off the gearbox meaning the cable wouldn't work. I guess i'll find out when i get the new pedal on and clutch cable plumbed in and about to connect to the clutch fork maybe some pics are needed!! lol
pug_ham 244 3 Cars Posted April 23, 2007 The clutch cable end just fits into the gearbox casuing on the Be3 so there is no obvious end stop like on the Be1 box. Graham.
