driversdomainuk 8 Posted April 19, 2007 Hi Looks like I am getting somewhere with new custom springs from these guys: ------------------------------------------------ Hello Rob We can make anything like that to order, our records show the springs are 155mm OD aprox, would you know what free length you need ? Aprox price to set up to make a 2 off would be £39.00 to £40.00 max Carriage & VAT to be added. Delivery 2-3 weeks max.. I hope to hear from you soon. Regards Andy TEL: 0044 (0) 1243 543049 FAX: 0044 (0) 1243 542133 EMAIL: sales@dfaulknersprings.com WEBSITE: www.dfaulknersprings.com- ----------------------------------------------------------------------- I think £40 for a pair of springs any lb is good....what do you think, has anyone used them before? Also, how much "free length" as they put it do I need...? Cheers
VisaGTi16v 1 Posted April 19, 2007 Thats a price to set up, not for 2 springs I think. I have a set of 4 from them (Visa has coil overs at the rear as well), cost £200 all in. As for all the measurements etc, I left that to my an*l friend and them to deal with heh. We worked out the existing spring rates and ride height front and rear then took the springs off to get the free ie unconnected length. Between them they then came up with spring rates and lengths front and rear. The front is similar to 205 tarmac grp A spec, rear was less due to the way the Visa works. Could have done with being about a cm lower at the front but I am happy with the handling I suggest you email them in detail your requirements and perhaps do some measuring on the car and maybe send them your current front springs. If they are standard they should know the 205 spec anyway.

In the mean time I will have the 24mm TBs fitted for the May meeting....I will see how gooder time I get. I might find the setup is perfect and dont want to mess around with it any more. The lb springs may only be 160 lb on the Koni setup, but I do have the dampers on hardest settings Edited April 20, 2007 by driversdomainuk
VisaGTi16v 1 Posted April 20, 2007 I think my fronts are 185 or 190 but then ive heard of some race 205's running 300lb etc! I suggest asking around a bit and bear in mind some may be running the thinner type springs on proper coil overs 2.25" or whatever they are so you cant compare with them if you run standard 205 type dampers
Batfink 201 Posted April 20, 2007 my brothers track 205 runs 280lb springs on the front and 180lb on the rear (all round coilovers) and we think its a little soft for track, using road legal slicks so i can see why people go higher
Rippthrough 98 Posted April 20, 2007 If your dampers are on the hardest rebound settings with 160lb springs, then you can't really go any higher on the spring rate without being underdamped (providing you have the damping set right at the minute.... )
petert 588 Posted April 20, 2007 From my experience you need something like this: 21mm TB's - std. to 225lb springs 23mm TB's - 300-320lb springs I ran std. front springs, reset 30mm lower, with revalved red Konis, and 21mm TB's for a full race season. It worked extremely well. Big torsion bars need big front springs however.
