Slight Problem

Recommended Posts

My Mi conversion is basically there now, the engines in, the plumbing and wiring is all done (we even started it up today, loud as f**k though due to the lack of exhaust at the moment), just need a few bits and pieces here and there to finish it off for 7k blats  My problem is that when I took the head to the cylinder place they put a new coreplug in as the old one wasnt there, it had been knocked out as it was cra*py and leaking. Now that the engine is all together and in when I fill her up with water/coolant a trickle leaks out from the new one. Were hoping that when the engine gets up to temp the head may expand slightly and seal it all properly, does this seem likely to happen? Just annoying as everytime I work on it im hoping I will be able to drive it away, but there always seems to be something else to be done ;)

After having a good search for anyone with a similar problem the only thing I can find which may help is using 'chemical metal' If I put this around the lip where the coreplug is located (its the one on the side of the head just under the cam pulleys) and leave it too set would that seem good enough to hold? Apparently the water doesnt get to much above 1 bar from what Ive read and the leak is only small, its not cracked just oozing past the plug :D
