johnnyboy666 195 1 Cars Posted April 18, 2007 i went out to my car this afternoon and noticed that there was a small puddle around the back wheel on the drivers side, upon closer inspection it seems that there is brake fluid coming out of the drum and dribbling down the wheel and tyre and onto the floor. i checked the brake fluid level and its just a few mm below maximum there seems to be a very minute amount of pulling under heavy braking but its only noticable if i take my hands off the wheel i.e i cant feel it through the wheel bizzarely the brakes seem 5% or 10% better than they were before this happened... does this mean the drum is knackered or could it be the brake hose or something? thanks in advance john
welshpug 1,657 Posted April 18, 2007 sounds like a leaky wheel cylinder, stop using it asap. youll need a new cylinder, as well as a set of shes if they're contaminated (which if its that bad they probaBLY WILL BE)

inferno 1 Posted April 18, 2007 as i garage id charge around 120- 130 for rear shoes and cylinders fitted, off the top of my head parts work out around 50-60 quid. not a hard job to do yourself tbh, be aware both cylinders should normally be replaced, the garage wont be trying to rob you, just if ones gone the other could be likely to go soon!
