Electric Window Sticking - What's Causing It?

Recommended Posts

Juz

my driver's side electric window struggles at 3 specific points when going up (2 near bottom/middle where it just "clicks" and one near the top where it slows right down and sometimes needs a helping hand). going down it is ok and the passenger side is fine too.

i made a short video clip of it as it's difficult to describe:

(about 0.5mb and requires xvid codec)

i have taken the motor mechanism out and all cleaned and regreased the runners. all the teeth on the large quarter circle cog are good. i tried operating the mechanism with it out of the door and not actually connected the window, and it runs smoothly and freely all the way in both directions.

but then i put it all back together and it's still the same!

does anybody have any ideas what is causing it please?

I am sorry that I cannot shed any light on this problem, as I also have similar symptoms with the drivers door window. It seems to stick/come to a ginding halt after it has opened about 1 inch. The only thing that cures it is to open the door a little - not a good idea when driving - then it runs fine. It does not have the same problem when closing.

Hope that someone out there can give you some good advice - and me!

Regards

Roy

your window is out of line in the rubber channels, normally due to a worn regulator
